Biographies - Marko Krmpotić

Marko Krmpotić was born in 1971 in Zagreb, Croatia, where he finished elementary and high school. In 1989 he enrolled in the University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine which he graduated in 1995. In the same year he began vocational training at the Department of Oral Surgery Dubrava University Hospital, and also enrolled in postgraduate studies University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine. As a junior research fellow he was included in the project "Implant-Prosthetic Rehabilitation of the Masticatory System".

He has been employed at the School of Dental Medicine since 1996 as well as at the Department of Oral Surgery Dubrava University Hospital as a resident in oral surgery. In 2000 graduated postgraduate studies, received his Master of Science title for his thesis "Microbilogical and Pathohistologic Study of Different Stages of the Odontogenic Inflammation" and completed with honors his oral surgery residency. In 2001 he was promoted to teaching assistant at the Oral Surgery Faculty of the School of Dental Medicine.

In 2004 upon own request leaves his post at the faculty and concentrates on clinical work at Dubava University Hospital. He has undertaken continuing education courses in the field of dental implantology at course in Europe and the United States - Zagreb (1997), Opatija (1999), Padova (2001), Hannau (2002), New York (2003), Graz (2004), Bern (2005), Göteborg (2005), Kopenhagen (2006). At the Oral Surgery Faculty of the School of Dental Medicine he held undergraduate courses for fifth year students. He has been a lecturer in detistry (Zagreb 1999. i 2002, Umag 2001, Varaždin 2006.) and dental implantology (Opatija, Rijeka, Poreč, Zagreb, Split). He actively took part in national and international congresses (Sheffield 1997, Cavtat 1988, Osijek 2000, Rovinj 2002, Zagreb 2002, Zagreb 2003.). He is the author or co-author of several articles.

He is member of the Croatian Dental Society, Croatian Association of Oral Surgeons (secretary), Croatian Dental Implantology Association, Croatian Association for Maxilofacial Surgery and the European Association of Osseintegration (EAO). In 2003 he spent five weeks in the United States, at the invitation of the New York College of Dentistry and in the capacity of "visiting faculty member" held two lectures for the faculties of oral surgery and dental implantology. He is fluent in English and German. In his free time he enjoys skiing, tennis (member of the United States Professional Tennis Registry) and sailing (member of the Physicians Sailing Club - Aesculap).
